Mijn motivatie om The Clay Table te starten was het creëren van een veelzijdige keramiekstudio waar mensen kunnen kiezen uit veel soorten activiteiten en een plek waar we ons richten op het verwelkomen van mensen met generositeit en gastvrijheid.

​

Ik vind het erg leuk om op maat gemaakte keramiekactiviteiten te ontwerpen voor onze klanten en ik geef zowel draai- als handbouwlessen. In mijn eigen keramiekpraktijk vind ik het geweldig om beide technieken te combineren om functionele en decoratieve stukken te maken.

Corina Burlacu werkte 15 jaar lang als filmproducent en organisator van filmfestivals. Ze is Roemeens, woont sinds 2009 in Den Haag en spreekt Roemeens, Engels en Nederlands. Ze begon in 2020 met het maken van keramiek, heeft verschillende cursussen gevolgd en heeft zich verdiept in de traditionele Koreaanse draai-keramiektechnieken die ze leerde van meester Kwak Kyungtae in Icheon (SK).

Hey!

Ik ben een kunstenaar en pottenbakker uit Aruba. Ik heb Beeldende Kunst gestudeerd aan de Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam (2012-2016). 

​

Mijn manier van werken is experimenteel en speels. Tijdens mijn studie mocht ik achter de draaischijf werken en na de eerste keer was is meteen enthousiast! Ik leerde mezelf draaien en startte met het combineren van draaien en handvormen.

 

Naast het maken van mijn eigen werk geef ik draailessen  bij Jordana Ceramics en creatieve workshop op scholen. Ik geniet van het lesgeven aan zowel kinderen als volwassenen. Tijdens mijn lessen moedig ik deelnemers aan om creatief, speels en onderzoekend te werken. 

 

Ik vind het belangrijk dat kinderen in deze tijd werken met hun handen en hun fantasie blijven gebruiken. Tijdens het maken van keramiek leer je veel levenslessen.

I think art is one of the things that makes life worth living. I have a day job in a big media corporation where I get to be creative in a very specific, limited way. I love the opportunity to also exist in a space where people make beautiful (sometimes weird) ceramic things from scratch, objects you can see growing in their hands in real time in front of your very eyes. I specifically love trying to capture this magic via 2D graphic design and I’m grateful to be able to put my passion for design to good use, to help build a pocket of space that I find so important in the world. 

 

I look forward to more beautiful and weird objects and projects! 

 

Patricia has a BA in History of Art from University of Birmingham and an MRES in Arts and Culture from Leiden University, with a specialism in socially engaged art. She has worked in museums, galleries and festivals in various parts of the world before deciding the art world is a scam. She has been living in The Netherlands for seven years and is now working for Paramount.

In de zomer van 2018 volgde ik voor het eerst een keramiek workshop tijdens een vakantie in Portugal, ik wist meteen dat ik vaker met klei wilde werken. Terug in Nederlands volgde ik een draaicursus en heb ik niet meer teruggekeken. In mijn nieuwe werk experimenteer ik met materialen uit de natuur in combinatie met mijn gedraaide werk. 

​

Mijn achtergrond als basisschooldocent en mijn motivatie voor het organiseren activiteiten hebben geresulteerd in het starten van mijn eigen bedrijf.

Jordana is in 2020 afgestudeerd als basisschooldocent en heeft dit werk voor een periode gecombineerd met het geven van keramiekcursussen. 

Naast doceren heeft ze een interesse in ondernemen en startte ze in 2022 haar eigen studio In Den Haag waar ze al met honderden beginners en gevorderde draaiers heeft gewerkt.

The "make it look pretty" boss has arrived. I'm the social media lead, and a craft fanatic, Gen Z edition. I collect brushes, threads, notebooks, journals, stamps, and anything you can imagine to create all sorts of artistic projects. 

As part of my journey adapting to a new culture after moving to the Netherlands, I became obsessed with a new hobby: ceramics. It took me two years to finally take the step and give it a try, but once I discovered The Clay Table, there was no turning back. Every now and then, you will see me painting, and you might find some of my colourful and quirky creations around the studio. I am looking forward to growing our ceramics skills together!

 

Laura Pinilla is a Corporate Communicator and Marketing Specialist who graduated in 2020 in her home country, Colombia. Her experience focuses on social media management, SEO, branding, and internal communication. She speaks English, Spanish, and a bit of Dutch.

Bonjour,

After years of being fascinated with ceramics, I finally put my hands in clay in 2018 in Brittany with a particular wheel throwing course with the inspiring ceramist Nathalie Dérouet whose work I had  followed for years. Overwhelmed by the emotion that this material gave me, I started again the next day trying to keep this emotion intact. 

Back to my real life, I decided to follow a wheel throwing course and rethink my future. I met a lot of potters and began training to make ceramics my passion, my job, my life. 

Two years later I opened my own studio in France with the obstinacy to create my own path with clay, experimentations, own glazes and materials found in nature, with freedom of expression. 

My work is technical and precise, but balanced with sincerity, authenticity and spontaneity. 

Before this shift I worked for 16 years in the world of brand design and communication as a pilar between clients and creative teams. These intense years taught me rigor, organisation, sense of contact, respect for people and creativity, love of words, meanings and sense.

Alice Lamarque Foray graduated in 2002 in business and worked for 16 years in communication. In her current work as a potter she develops her own line of products and she is teaching handbuilding and wheel throwing. She works in The Netherlands and France for restaurants and architects.

Hey,

 

Ik heb een passie voor keramiek en lesgeven. Ik maak graag unieke items, gedraaid op de draaischijf of hand opgebouwd. Ik geniet van iedere stap van het maken van keramiek, van een bol klei naar een kopje of vaas tot onderzoek doen naar mijn eigen glazuren. Als docent motiveer ik mensen graag naar het vinden van hun eigen expressie in klei, altijd met praktische en fantasierijke aanpak.

 

Ik kijk er naar uit om je welkom te heten in een van mijn lessen.
 

Mijke Anink is een keramist met meer dan 15 jaar ervaring in het geven van draailessen en handopbouwlessen. Ze heeft gestudeerd aan de Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten.

Hello!

 

I am an artist from Indonesia, currently living in The Hague. My work takes the form of spatial physical poetry, serving as an embodiment of artistic research. By merging art, design, and architecture, I create a language for them to coexist. I explore design possibilities through physical experiments, poetry, choreography, drawings, and model making. Since 2018, I have been moving, sculpting, performing, playing, and experimenting with clay/ceramics—and I haven’t stopped since. I find clay to be one of the most sincere materials to work with. I’m excited to explore art together!

Deandra Jauw graduated from the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague (KABK) with a bachelor's degree in Interior Architecture and Furniture Design. She currently teaches in the Kunstplan program at KABK. Deandra is also part of Studio Sososo, a studio dedicated to transforming the fashion landscape through innovative approaches. Community-based activities are important to her, and she get involves in pop-up events to connect with the local community.
