WHEEL THROWING
Learn the legendary craft of pottery on the potter's wheel at our studio in Scheveningen. Our multi-week pottery courses have been designed by highly experienced instructors, who are professional potters themselves. The lessons are made to be suitable for a range of skill levels, from beginners to advanced.
Pottery is great fun and very relaxing.
To get the most out of it, you need patience and lots of practice.
WHEEL THROWING COURSES FOR BEGINNERS
These courses are suitable for people with no experience of working with clay or with only limited experience.
Participants will learn the basic pottery skills of wedging, centring and shaping clay to make small pots, cups and bowls. They will also learn decorative techniques such as sgraffito and carving, as well as glazing in the final lesson.
By the end of the course, which lasts several weeks, participants will have made various small, functional and/or decorative items. These items will be fired once more (high firing) and will be ready for collection two to three weeks later.
POTTERY COURSES FOR ALL LEVELS
Courses intended for students of various levels. This means that beginners, intermediate and advanced students can work on different projects in the same classes. This is a great way to find inspiration and learn from one another.
Whilst beginners work on basic skills (as described above), students with some pottery experience can improve their technique and create more refined pieces. Everyone in the group receives support and attention from an experienced instructor.
Participants in the follow-up courses / intermediate students can learn to make vases, lidded pots and candlesticks.
Advanced students can (learn to) throw with a larger amount of clay (up to 1kg), shape large pots (such as vases and bowls) or design complex projects (such as lamp bases).
