In this workshop you learn the basics of making and decorating tiles, led by one of our experienced ceramic artists. You roll out slabs, cut your tiles to size and decorate them with sgraffito. Sgraffito comes from the Italian word for "to scratch": an age-old decorating technique in which you apply coloured clay (engobe) and scratch your design into it.

What you make: 2 tiles of 10 x 10 cm. Larger or extra tiles are not possible. 

 

Finishing: we slowly dry your tiles (2 weeks), bisque fire them, glaze them with a clear glossy glaze and fire them a second time. 

 

Included: materials, glazing session by our team and firing costs. 

 

Group size: 5 to 10 participants. 

 

Pickup: tiles don't go home on the day. They are ready for pickup about 6 weeks after the workshop. 

 

Duration: 3 hours.
